[Variety introduction 01] Baco Noir

Baco Noir is a black grape variety that is only grown in North America. It is a red wine that is loved in Ontario, Canada, with a unique complex and fascinating aroma that impresses wine lovers. This time, we will introduce you to Baco Noir.

A rare variety found only in North America

Baco Noir is a thick-skinned, deep blue-black hybrid grape variety grown primarily in North America. It was created in the late 19th century by a French wine grower named Francois Baco. Our store carries Baco Noir produced by Henry of Pelham Family Estate, a pioneer of Baco Noir in Ontario.

A rich taste that will appeal to wine lovers

The grapes, grown on the oldest vines at Henry of Pelham Family Estate, are 40 years old and have a rich, dense flavor with mature depth of flavor, structure and finesse. The berry-like fruit aroma is layered with smoky aromas, and the firm acidity tightens the concentrated fruitiness.

The deep complex flavor and soft tannins gently envelop the whole, and the satisfying Baco Noir has been highly praised by local wine magazines as "very easy to drink" and "recommended as a powerful red wine." At our tasting events, we are increasing the number of wine lovers in Japan who are aware of this wine and say, "Once you drink it, you'll be hooked." At the Sakura Awards held in 2024, it won the Gold Award.

Food that goes well with it

It goes well with regular meat dishes such as spicy meat dishes, tomato-based dishes, stewed hamburgers, etc. If you pair it with game dishes, it will bring out the flavor of Baco Noir to the fullest, so if you like it, please try it.
